Cycle of Sin

I am so thankful that God in His Word goes to great lengths to remind us of the consequences of our sin.

A Leader’s Perspective – The Cycle of Sin

I am so thankful that God in his Word goes to great lengths to remind us of the consequences of our sin. The Lord knows our human frailty and weaknesses. He knows that if we are not constantly reminded and challenged from his Word that we will fall back into similar patterns of sin. It is not only the sin that besets individual human beings either, but the sin that destroys churches, communities, states, nations, and specific regions of the world. The Bible points out again and again that outside of Christ Jesus we will fall into that wicked cycle of sin that will end with righteous judgment. We will clearly reap what we sow.

The leaders challenge is to be disciplined enough to stay in his word daily, be led by the Holy Spirit, and to develop such a God consciousness that not a minute of the day goes by where His presence is not felt and is impacting our lives. When we do fail (and fail we will), we need to ask His forgiveness. We need to ask His forgiveness so that we can be reconciled with Him. Leaders need to have such tender hearts that they are immediately aware of their sin.

1 John 1:9 – If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Jeremiah 4:18 – Thy way and thy doings have procured these things unto thee; this is thy wickedness, because it is bitter, because it reacheth unto thine heart.

Lamentations 1:8 – Jerusalem hath grievously sinned; therefore she is removed: all that honored her despise her, because they have seen her nakedness: yea, she sigheth, and turneth backward.

Proverbs 14:34 – Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.

Jeremiah 18:8 – If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.

Make no mistake, the Lord will chastise and correct those that He loves and remove His hand of grace where iniquity abounds.
