The Storm Clouds Yonder

A challenge to those who are not followers of Jesus Christ. We beg you to call upon the name of our Savior...............

A Leader’s Perspective

Poem Name: The Storm Clouds Yonder

Purpose: This poem was written as a challenge to those who are not followers of Jesus Christ. It is an allegory using the storm clouds of God’s creation against a backdrop of the gallows of eternal damnation. The hope is to depict those who are consumed with the busyness and cares of this life and who never stop to reflect and enjoy its true Christ-centered meaning.

Life and all of its pleasures surround and control us. This world wants to monopolize our thoughts, desires, and actions to the point where there is no room for anything else. Through the passage of time, the spiritual storm clouds start to move closer still. Christians beckon and plead the cause of Christ to those in need, but to no avail. The gallows now stand ready to receive their own.

Ezekiel 16:15But thou didst trust in thine own beauty, and playedst the harlot because of thy renown, and pouredst out thy fornications on everyone that passed by; his it was.

Proverbs 1:31Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

The Storm Clouds Yonder

Those storm clouds are gathering

Off in the distant sky

God’s power and His majesty

Displayed right there on-high

Those ominous foreboding clouds

With radiant hues of gray

The lightning flash, and thunder, too

Will come your way today

Those storm clouds are gathering

You sense your day is near

So much to do, not now, you say

In Him I cannot fear

Through blind eyes I see the world

With no thought of you

These moments of life simply passing by

It’s sad I know, but true

Those storm clouds are gathering

This life so fast a pace

Running here and there, and everywhere

Let’s go, we must make haste

So oblivious to life’s meaning now

You hear those crushing sounds

You ask if this is meant for you

No answer to be found

Those storm clouds are gathering

New life we hope to see

Christian channels, yes, do witness still

They shout salvation’s plea

But as those clouds do now approach

His will we now understand

The planks, the nails, the gallows built

We wait for His command

Those gallows’ planks completed now

The appointment came so soon

Still time to call the Savior

His Son for you to choose

And as he walks those planks of death

Christian channels again appear

Just ask they cry, believe in Him

He will remove all fears

The hangman asks just one more time

What do you have to say

He begs and pleads for this lost soul

To be with Him today

No, I say, this life I’ve lead

Is mine to proclaim

I will not, cannot, bow to Him

My answer is the same

My pride, the arrogance is who I am

For me to take a knee

Is to admit my sinful ways

In this I shall not heed

The Christian channels cried and wept

They knew what lay ahead

A meeting with our glorious maker

The book, my name not read

The hood, the rope it tightens now…..
