Seeing God in Everyday Living

March 23, 2017

A few months back I was sitting at a restaurant reading my Bible along with a few other books by well-known Christian authors (A.W. Tozer, C.H. Spurgeon, and contemporary Steve Pettit). At the time I was anticipating a teaching and preaching opportunity with an upcoming trip to India and wanted to adequately prepare by digging into the meat of God’s Word. I was sitting there fully contemplating all of the things that I read that day, things that were full of wisdom, life, and righteousness! As I looked around the restaurant, I started to admire a couple of wall hangings and began appreciating the fact that they were mentioning our God in heaven above. Then I remembered that I was sitting in the South (South Carolina) and the chances of that happening anywhere else in the world were limited. I then focused my eyes on other parts of the restaurant that were plastered with a bunch of worldly phrases and slogans. One slogan in particular caught my attention. It read as follows:

“Because life has forever changed”

I thought about it for a few minutes and then decided to add a few words at the end to give it more of a spiritual connotation, meaning, and application. I changed it to read:

“Because life has forever changed through Him and His Spirit

After reading this a couple of times I noticed that I could find the word “Christ” in the various letters of the sentence. Well, you probably know what happened next. My mind started to wander and I made a brief attempt to come up with as many spiritual words that I could possibly find from that one sentence. I challenge you to see how many more words that you can come up with! The lesson of the day is for us to try and find the beauty of God in everyday living. Be on the lookout for things where you can give praise and adoration to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Allow this world to become your playpen for spiritual blessing. Even a wall at a local restaurant can be used for His glory. Below, are a few words and phrases that can be recreated from the letters in the sentence above. Can you find any more?
