On Your Knees - The Power of Prayer

November 22, 2014

The gift of prayer is such a marvelous and personal way to show praise and complete adoration toward our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

On Your Knees

The gift of prayer is such a marvelous and personal way to show praise and complete adoration toward our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Through our willingness to pray we show him that we totally and humbly submit ourselves to his perfect authority in our lives. We first see this spiritual reliance on His authority in the book of Genesis. In chapter 4 verse 26 it states, “And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the Lord.” We are reminded again and again throughout the Word of God that we need a daily time of devotion, a time to die to our old sin nature, to rid ourselves of ourselves, and to be alive in Christ Jesus through intimate and personal prayer with Him. What a wonderful way to begin each precious day, remembering that gift of life that you have been so richly blessed with, to get “On Your Knees” and devote yourself to a Risen Savior.

Do you come to him in expectant prayer?

Do you come boldly unto the throne of His Grace?

Do you pray according to His promises in the Word of God?

Do you pray without ceasing?

Do you have a time alone with Him each and every day?

Do you pray to Him during the good times as well as those wilderness occasions?

Do you allow the Holy Spirit to direct your prayers?

Do you visualize Jesus Christ listening intently to the concerns of your heart?

Do you have any sin issues that would hinder your time alone with the Lord?

Do you have a repentant attitude before our Savior?

Is your prayer life full with blessing from above or simply an afterthought and a checklist item?

Are you specific with your requests before Him?

Do you come with humility, understanding who He is, the Creator God?

Is there a spirit of thanksgiving for what He has accomplished in you?

Psalm 95:6     O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker….

Luke 22:41     And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed.

Acts 7:60        And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
