Don’t Starve – Just Imagine

I praise the Lord that He has given each of us a special gift, through His creation, the intellectual capacity to think about, to meditate on, and to wonderfully imagine the blessings of our spiritual journey. A Christian’s thought life and imagination are extraordinary and powerful gifts in our relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

During my daily devotions I read something that challenged me to truthfully consider my thought life and the way I use my imagination. I want to challenge you with the same spiritual encouragement. Do we use our imaginations to put ourselves before a holy and righteous God? Do we use our imaginations when we come boldly unto His throne of grace? Do we use our imaginations when we sing the old-time gospel songs? How about when we pray with our families or participate in local church ministries? Do we use our imaginations for the effectual work of the Lord Jesus Christ?

As a church body we need to be continually on guard not to let our worship become thoughtless, unimaginative, and routine. We need to be conscious of not limiting ourselves to the ceremonial, the ritual, the formality, and the routine of “playing church.” God wants us to use our imaginations for His service, for His worship, and for His praise. If our imaginations and thoughts are not focused on him, then the things of this earth will grow “strangely brighter” and the natural state of man and his desires will shine through. God does not want us to starve spiritually, but to simply imagine Him and the blessings of His glory.

Isaiah 40:26 – “Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things”…….
