While the secular humanist philosophies abound with their grotesque depiction of a world where human reason, philosophical naturalism, and ethics must supersede all forms of religious order and faith, Christians can take comfort in the knowledge that Christ Jesus died on the cross for our sins.

A Leader’s Perspective – Life through Christ Jesus

While the secular humanist philosophies abound with their grotesque depiction of a world where human reason, philosophical naturalism, and ethics must supersede all forms of religious order and faith, Christians can take comfort in the knowledge that Christ Jesus died on the cross for our sins. It is clear that the world (Satan who is the prince of this world) would have us believe that the good in man will overcome all obstacles and impediments to making this earth a better place to live. Through knowledge and a natural compassion for the good of mankind, humans will inevitably rise to the occasion to shower a humanist virtue of goodwill on all those around us. This is a belief that human morality is independent from a holy and righteous God.

The holy scriptures teach us a much different story. The Bible clearly emphasizes the wretched condition of man outside of a saving relationship with our Lord and Savior.

“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” Romans 5:12

“Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.” Romans 6:6

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23

So, while Adam’s sin plunged the human race headlong into universal sin, we all participated in the fall of mankind. Positionally, we were actually sinning with him. However, it is through our obedience in Christ Jesus, by accepting that gift of salvation from the cross, that we too can be reconciled to Him and overcome eternal sin in our lives. For one day we will be with him in our glorified bodies.

“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:” Romans 5:1

If by chance you take a survey of your comparative human value/condition and muse that it could be worse, think long and hard about the natural condition of a man’s heart. For the Bible clearly tells us, “the heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” Jeremiah 17:9

As a leader you should continue to look in the mirror of His word and allow the Holy Spirit to refine areas of need. While the Lord has allowed times in history of great spiritual introspection, until he comes we will participate in a world of spiritual dearth.
